After summer is before summer. This doesn't just apply to your training preparation for the perfect beach body, but also to your vitamin D levels. Summertime is vitamin D time - but after summer ends, things look pretty bleak for your vitamin D levels. In the truest sense of the word, because in the darkness, which sets in early afternoon in the cold season, your body doesn't produce any vitamin D...
Why Vitamin D is Important for Muscle Building and Regeneration
Most people think that we at WEIDER are primarily known for our well-developed biceps and are probably wondering why we are suddenly babbling about sunshine and bare skin. Well, firstly, our founder Joe Weider knew many years ago that the basic principles of bodybuilding (training, sleep, nutrition) also have a positive effect on health and secondly, vitamin D is not only beneficial for general health, but also good for our biceps. And all other muscles.
The systematic review by Wyatt and colleagues , published in January 2024, shows promising potential of vitamin D supplementation: Studies have shown that taking vitamin D (depending on the initial blood levels, of course) can improve endurance performance, explosive strength and power. Muscle regeneration and injury prevention are also addressed. Interestingly, the number of vitamin D receptors (vitamin D binds to the associated receptor and thus exerts its effect) in our muscles even seems to increase during the regeneration phase.
In addition, sufficient vitamin D levels are important for the functioning of our immune system. This has long been known and is of course particularly important - because if you are sick in bed, you cannot train your biceps.
How to ensure your daily dose of vitamin D – even in winter
We understand that you have to work and therefore cannot enjoy the midday sun, which is scarce in winter, every day. We also understand that you may find it uncomfortable to strip completely naked in public. But luckily you don't necessarily have to. You can also simply take our vitamin D capsules. These are dosed in such a way that you can flexibly adjust your daily dose to your previously determined blood level. Our vitamin D capsules also contain high-quality vitamin K2 and magnesium. The latter is particularly important for activating vitamin D in the body. What more could you want?
The fact is that summer is long gone and the cold season has us firmly in its grip. Even if the sun shines less often in winter, it is important to ensure you have an adequate supply of vitamin D! So if you don't have time to go out in the sun during the day or it is simply too cold to show much skin, then just put a small container of vitamin D capsules in your shopping cart. This way you will stay well supplied even in the dark season and support your health - very conveniently!
