Questions about Vitamin D3/K2 capsules

What is vitamin D?

To be correct and precise, vitamin D is actually not a vitamin, but a hormone - because unlike the other 12 vitamins, the body can theoretically produce it on its own when exposed to sunlight. The body´s own vitamin D synthesis requires sufficient exposure to UV-B radiation from sunlight, as well as the precursor molecule cholesterol, which the body also produces naturally. Unfortunately, getting enough sunlight is often a big issue in modern society, as our lifestyle is far from being ideal for vitamin D production.
The physiological functions of vitamin D3 in the human body are manifold. The vitamin supports the immune system, calcium metabolism, bone health, muscle function and many other vital processes.

Why should I take vitamin D3/K2 capsules?

We spend most of our time indoors - and when we leave the house, we cover most of our vitamin D-producing skin with clothes. In summer, we use sunscreen to protect our skin from the potentially harmful effects of sunlight - and unfortunately, this also prevents vitamin D production. Our individual skin type and our age also play an important role in our capacity to synthesize vitamin D.
In Central Europe, the angle of sunlight is also too flat most of the year, which is why UV-B exposure is not strong enough to ensure sufficient vitamin D production. Weather conditions also determine our exposure to sunlight: a cloudy sky means less sunshine, hindering our vitamin D synthesis.
In addition, it is hardly possible to get enough vitamin D from food. Only very few foods contain significant amounts of vitamin D.

How should I dose vitamin D3/K2?

First of all, we have to tell you not to exceed the recommended daily dosage.
However, especially with vitamin D, it is definitely advisable to have your blood level checked and to then determine your personalized daily dosage of the vitamin D supplement in consultation with a doctor or nutrition scientist.
Our vitamin D3/K2 capsules are designed to allow for flexible dosing. The co-factor magnesium, which is needed to activate vitamin D, is also included in an appropriate dosage that allows for a targeted supplementation according to your individual needs.
